Thermodynamic heat-transfer phenomena in nanostructured glassy substances: a comparative study on g-As5Se95 and g-As55Se45

Abstract Nanostructurization-driven responses in calorimetric heat-transfer phenomena are compared for glassy arsenoselenides at different levels of their molecular network organization, namely high-polymerized g-As 5 Se 95 and low-polymerized 55 45 , employing multifrequency temperature-modulated DSC-TOPEM ® method complemented with Raman scattering microspectroscopy. It is shown that composed AsSe 3 pyramids interlinked by chains small number 8 units decoupled from this prevails melt-quenched nanomilling-derived . Transition to more polymerized due incorporation destroyed molecules into glass backbone occurs under nanostructurization. As a result, nanostructurization-driven response dominates size-induced glass-transition temperature depression. The structure built As–Se enriched tetra-arsenic selenide network. Molecular-to-network transition owing nanomilling-driven destruction these cage newly glass-forming resulting strong increase temperature.
